SwanCare Group is a provider of accommodation and associated services for older adults in Perth, Western Australia. The development comprises approximately 800 dwellings ranging from free standing villas to apartments, accommodating over 1100 residents. In 2006, the organisation recognised the value and potential of technology to enhance lifestyle and quality of life for residents while also improving the quality and safety of care.

The Sierra Systems team designed a solution that incorporated a truly converged infrastructure with an intelligent building framework using IP networking based on communications and messaging.

The solution has transformed SwanCare into one of the most technologically advanced Retirement Living and Aged Care facilities in Australia. As a result, residents are able to reside in their homes for much longer, as their health and safety are closely monitored. From a business perspective, SwanCare has experienced a positive return on investment thanks to new revenue streams and other operational and administration savings. Because the intelligent building solution is fully scalable, the addition of new features and services is available when needed.
